Guangzhou Metro is the metro system of the city of Guangzhou in the Guangdong Province of China. Airbus has provided a secure TETRA communication system, which has been in operation since September 2005 for its metro lines 1, 2, 4, and 8.
In 2015, Airbus Defence and Space won the contract to provide the TETRA communication system again for Guangzhou Metro new lines:7, 9 and 13. At the end of 2016, Guangzhou metro line 7 was taken into use. The metro line 9 and 13 will start operations at the end of 2017.
Guangzhou Metro is operated by the state-owned Guangzhou Metro Corporation and was the fourth metro system to be built in mainland China.
