Ready to meet the growth targets

Jinan Yaoqiang International Airport was opened in 1992, and since then the airport has got several expansions. In 2019, the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) approved a new master plan for the airport. It positions the airport as a large regional hub airport, including three terminals and four runways.

The airport has a growth strategy and its goal is to achieve 50 million passengers, 500,000 tonnes cargo and 383,000 aircraft movements per year by 2030, and 80 million passengers, 1.5 million tonnes cargo and 593,000 aircraft movements per year by 2050.

Several organizations and teams at Jinan Yaoqiang International use a hybrid TETRA network from Airbus to communicate with each other. The network covers the whole Jinan Yaoqiang International Airport area, currently including two terminals, one runway, and office buildings etc.

The users of the network include

• food service suppliers and more.

Seamless communications for daily operations

The 800 MHz TETRA communication network has been in operational use at Jinan Yaoqiang International airport since 2005. It provides stable, reliable and seamless communications for all airport staff in their daily duties.

New, broader possibilities

Broadband communications have complemented the TETRA network since 2020. The teams at Jinan Yaoqiang International airport see the benefits of the hybrid solution and Tactilon Agnet solution, which allows smart device users to join the same groups with radio users. This way, smartphone-carrying staff can communicate seamlessly with those who use radios in a reliable and secure way – in the airport area, but outside the range of the TETRA network as well.

The new solution means that people can manage situations effectively regardless of their geographical location. This can shorten the aircraft turnaround time and maximize customer satisfaction.

Tactilon Agnet also brings new multimedia-enriched messaging and video transmission capabilities and can bring new efficiencies to their everyday operations.
