SIRDEE - nationwide public safety network in Spain

SIRDEE is the nationwide authority communications network for the National Police and the Guardia Civil in Spain. This network has been in operation since the year 2000.

Spanish police network serves other organisations as well

SIRDEE (Sistema de Radiocomunicaciones Digitales de Emergencia del Estado) is a shared communications network, and it provides voice and data services to more than 150,000 users. Main users of the network are Policía Nacional and Guardia Civil.

In addition, the following organizations have joined the network:

  • The Royal House
  • Prime Minister's Cabinet
  • Traffic Police
  • Military Emergency Unit (UME)
  • Spanish Navy
  • Other defence, regional and local organizations.

SIRDEE helps its users protect and serve the around 47,000,000 inhabitants of Spain.

The network provides communications coverage over

  • an area of around 700,000 km2
  • including Canary and Balearic islands
  • and all coastal area.

Public safety organizations rely on the SIRDEE authority communications every day. In addition, secure communications play a key role whenever there is a major incident or a large event. Helping secure the crowning ceremony of Spain's King Felipe is just one example of the importance of SIRDEE communications.
