Elancourt, 20 March 2017 – To improve the quality and efficiency of the radio communications system for Public Safety in Mexico City, Airbus has recently started to upgrade the “Federal Public Security Secretariat’s” Tetra network. The Mexican national public safety agency Secretaría de Seguridad Pública del Distrito Federal will soon profit from a new Tetra network with larger capacity to meet the needs of around 30,000 end users.
Fred Gallart, Head of Sales and Program Delivery for Latin America of Secure Land Communications at Airbus, says: “Before placing our offer to the Secretariat, we took a close look at the Secretariat’s mission-critical communications requirements. As a result, Airbus put on the table a tailor-made solution that makes a difference.”
Besides significant hard- and software upgrades with the latest DXTA Tetra server and the easy-to-use management system NetBoss, Airbus will also renew and increase the number of dispatch positions with the Radio Console System 9500. Furthermore, the network coverage will be enhanced. The contract also includes the replacement of existing radios with new devices, as well as technical support and maintenance service.
The network will secure an area of about 1,500 square kilometers with a population of nearly 9 million inhabitants, which makes it one of the densest metropoles in the world.
