Elancourt/Munich, 12 December 2018 – The Munich Security Conference (MSC) has chosen highly secure Tetra communication solutions from Airbus to support various high-level policy events around the globe within the next three years.
The encrypted communication solution from Airbus will be applied for manifold activities in different regions worldwide. Airbus and the conference’s organisers have already been cooperating since 2012 to provide secure communication services for the MSC main conference taking place in Munich.
The Airbus system, consisting of base stations and terminals, facilitates the conventions’ coordination and improves the overall security while policy representatives gather to discuss the world’s preeminent security challenges of the future. “Having the opportunity to support the MSC in the coming years is a stimulus and high recognition for Airbus. We watch with great interest the work of that forum enhancing cooperation on global security questions, which is one of the key domains of Airbus,” says Olivier Koczan, Head of Secure Land Communications at Airbus.
Benedikt Franke, Chief Operating Officer of the Munich Security Conference, explains: “Airbus has kept its promises to provide outstanding communication services over the past years in order to improve the complex organisation of our events with highest security standards. This is the reason why we put our trust in Airbus to help us with dozens of other conventions.”
On several occasions per year, the MSC invites members of international organisations and think tanks, politicians, government members, scientists, activists, and military representatives to debate the latest developments in the fields of defence, security, technology, economy and civil society at different regional events. In addition to the main conference in Munich, the MSC has been extending its activities in the areas of international policy, diplomacy and security. Manifold series, meetings and round-table meetings have taken place in many places around the world in the past few past years, for instance in Washington D.C. (USA), Beijing (China), Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) and Reykjavik (Iceland), to name a few.
